Eric Johnson, Real Estate Director


Eric Johnson develops comprehensive business plans for current Port maritime properties and acquisition/development plans for other key business growth sectors targeted in the Port Authority’s long-range strategic plan. These growth sectors are manufacturing, logistics, biotechnology and aerospace. He directs the financial management of all real estate assets under Port control and supervises the work of real estate project managers.

Prior to his appointment at the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority, Johnson was employed as Real Estate Manager for the City of Charlotte, North Carolina. From 2005-2006, he was Director, Housing and Urban Development, for the City of Pompano Beach, Fla., where he led, planned, organized and managed the work of community and economic development grant programs and activities.

Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas; Master’s degree in Public Administration, Minnesota State University at Mankato; Ph.D. in Urban Affairs and Public Policy, University of Delaware. Dr. Johnson has also taught courses in urban development policy, community development theory and practice and urban politics.
